About Torre de la pólvora
This is one of the monuments that best shows the character of a fortified medieval city that is Prague. The Powder Tower is the only one still standing of the thirteen towers had defensive walls of Prague in the thirteenth century.
It is the gateway to the city from East Bohemia. This monument has undergone several reconstructions. The last in 1887, in Gothic style, which is what we see today.
The Powder Tower was once the starting point of the "Royal Route" which made the Bohemian kings, covering the city, past the Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge and finally coming to Prague Castle .
If we dare to climb the 168 steps up its 63 meters, we can see Prague with spectacular panoramic views.
