Plovdiv is a Bulgarian town located on the banks of the Maritsa River.
Its unique location at a crossroads between civilizations, has made it an important city from antiquity so it has different political, religious and cultural influences.
Despite this, the city has kept intact its unique historical and cultural identity. One of the most remarkable monuments of the city is the well-preserved Roman theater, located in the Old Town of Plovdiv that is still used occasionally for outdoor performances. It also preserves the Roman Stadium, from the time of Vespasian, the Roman Forum and a number of temples and mosques of all ages.
Their museums are a must: such as the Ethnographic Museum, the Historical Museum, the Museum of Natural Science and the Archaeological Museum.
