New York is the most populous city from EEUU, with an estimated population of 8,213,839, while it´s metropolitan population exceeds 22 million.

The two key features of the demography of the city are it´s population density and cultural diversity. It has the highest density (10.194 hab / km ²) of any American municipality with a population of over 100,000. The density of the Country of New York (25.846 hab / km ²) is the highest of all in the country.

New York City is exceptionally diverse. Throughout it´s history the city has been one of the main ports of entry for immigrants, at present, 36% of city residents were born abroad, the four largest ethnic groups (except of Caucasians) in the city: Puerto Ricans, Italians, Dominicans and Chinese. The city is talking about 170 different languages.
