About Kamakura-shi

Kamakura is a coastal town in Kanagawa prefecture, located less than an hour from Tokyo.

Kamakura became the political center of Japan, when Minamoto Yoritomo chose the city as capital of his new military government in 1192.

Today, Kamakura is a very popular tourist destination even is known as the Kyoto of Eastern Japan, has many temples, shrines and other historical monuments. In the summer, its sandy beaches, attracts large crowds.
