Berkeley is a medium-sized city located in the San Francisco Bay in California. Located in the East Bay, Berkeley is famous for its university, liberal politics, for being the center of the hippie movement of the 60s and its many cultural and culinary activities.
Berkeley has become a bohemian spot, with lots of bookshops and cozy cafes along the quirky Telegraph Avenue, the tranquility of a walk around the campus of the University of California at Berkeley, the Berkeley Rose Garden and the Downtown Arts District or a cruise around the park by the sea, where you can admire the skyline sparkling in San Francisco bay.
Home of the Berkeley University, it's a hippy area with lots of bars and some cool places to go out. Not really recommended. It's better to go to Stanford if you want to visit an American university.
