El Auditorio de Tenerife is the work of architect Santiago Calatrava Valls. Located on the Avenue of the Constitution of the Canarian capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain), and next to the Atlantic Ocean in the southern part of Puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Construction began in 1997 and ended in 2003, was inaugurated on 26 September of that year with the presence of Felipe de Borbón, Prince of Asturias, and was also visited by former U.S. President Bill Clinton. The building is framed within the tenets of late modernist architecture of the late twentieth century. El Auditorio de Tenerife is home to the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra.
The modern audience profile has led to the Cabildo of Tenerife I consider one of the most unique emblems of the city of Santa Cruz and the island of Tenerife. Also in March 2008 Post postal service issued six stamps with the most emblematic works of Spanish architecture and included the audience because of its uniqueness. It is the most modern building in the Canary Islands and Tenerife tourist attraction.
